Out & About

Eating & Drinking

Being just 6km from Eymet, there are plenty of options for foodies including: French, Italian, Peruvian, English, take-away pizza and even our own Michelin guide  restaurant La Cour 'd'Eymet. The Marches Gourmands are a must when you visit. There are local night markets where you sit at long communal tables to sample local food and wine. We recommend those held in our local villages of Eymet, Issigeac, Soumensac and Duras. There are many fantastic restaurants within a 10-20 min drive.

Places to Visit

Bordeaux & Bergerac

Our two nearest cultural hubs are Bordeaux and Bergerac. The city of Bordeaux with over 2000 years of history, a centre of art, culture and wine, can be reached easily from Sta foy La Grande train station in approx 50 mins.
Whilst Bergerac is a mere 25 mins away by car, with the Dordogne river running through it, great restaurants and shopping and that rustic, ancient French feel.
If it's a Chateau you want, then 3 we would recommend a visit to are:
  1. Chateau Montbazillac
  2. Chateau De Bridoire
  3.  Chateau Biron

If it's vineyards you are looking for then look no further. On the route de Bordeaux, you can explore the local Bergerac wine production and taste some wonderful wines.

Eymet

Our local Bastide Town

Eymet is not your typical sleepy French village ..... situated on the border of Dordogne and Lot et Garonne, it was founded in 1270 as a traditional Bastide with narrow streets and a gorgeous central square. Here you can find bustling weekly markets every Thursday, and in summer many food, wine and other festivals. There are many local markets to visit across the area if you need a shopping fix whilst here. We recommend:
  • Eymet - Thursday morning & Tuesday evening
  • Duras - Monday
  • Issegeac - Sunday
  • Lauzan - Saturday
  • Sigoules - Friday
